Iglesias, an attorney with degrees in law and accounting, will help guide the American Staffing Association, which serves as the leading voice for the staffing industry through its legislative affairs, public relations and education initiatives. Iglesias serves Spherion as general counsel, overseeing the entire legal function of the company.
Previously, Iglesias served as a senior tax specialist with KPMG Peat Marwick and as a mergers and acquisitions counsel with the Greenberg Traurig law firm. Iglesias earned a law degree from the University of Miami after earning bachelor and master of accounting degrees from the University of South Florida. Iglesias, a certified public accountant, is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Corporate Counsel Association and the American Society of Corporate Secretaries. She also serves on the board of directors of the American Arbitration Association.
In addition, former Spherion general counsel John B. Smith was the recipient of the ASA 2002 leadership award. Smith was inducted into ASA’s Hall of Fame in recognition of outstanding contributions to the staffing industry and dedicated service to the ASA over a distinguished 35-year career. Smith retired from Spherion in 1999 as senior vice president and general counsel, and since then has performed consulting assignments for the company.
Smith graduated from Florida Southern College and obtained his law degree from Northwestern University School of Law. He performed post-graduate work at John Marshall Law School. He co-founded the Home Health Services and Staffing Association in Washington D.C. and served as director and treasurer of the American Staffing Association. Smith is a member of the Florida and Illinois State Bars.
