LAUDERDALE, Fla., September 26, 2001 – Spherion Corporation, a recruitment, outsourcing and technology services provider, announced today that it has been selected by Toyota Motor Sales (TMS) and Toyota Financial Services (TFS) to develop MyCareer@Toyota, an online career management portal intended to better educate, cultivate and retain Toyota associates. Spherion utilized Talent Alliance, its proprietary Web-based career management solution, to design the customized site for
Toyota
, offering access to content and exercises related to career development.
According to SaratogaSM Institute, the research arm of Spherion, employees today are leaving jobs for more than just salary increases. Inadequate career growth opportunities, poor supervisors and a lack of training and development are principal reasons for turnover.
Toyota
believes the implementation of MyCareer@Toyota will help to increase associate retention within the organization and allow company officials to better understand the interests and background of its current associate population. “Today’s workers are taking a much more active role in their career development. One of the site’s main features is the career profile system, which allows associates to post their employment background, current skills, training history and desired job preferences, thus allowing management to identify appropriate candidates for internal job openings throughout
