Spherion Wins Prestigious Outsourcing Industry Award


Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. , February 13, 2001—Spherion Corporation today announced that it has been awarded one of eight Editor's Choice awards, granted annually by the Outsourcing Center . Spherion was recognized as "Most Flexible" provider of outsourcing services for the year 2000.

 

The award was granted for Spherion's outsourcing relationship with Thomson multimedia, formerly Thomson Consumer Electronics. Spherion provides customer support services for Thomson's RCA, Proscan and GE electronic products customers in the area of user customer service support. Spherion handles over five million contacts a year either via phone or e-mail.

 

Parker added, "We leverage our experience to deliver such expectations—Spherion's 2,000 customer care professionals engage in over 50 million customer contacts each year at 14 customer care centers. Spherion adds value to its call center clients, including some of the world's most-admired companies, in the areas of telecommunications, healthcare, consumer products and technology."

 

Scott Medawar, Manager of Customer Care Operations for Thomson multimedia, began outsourcing the customer care center to Spherion in 1997, looking to provide world-class customer service for its customers. Medawar added, "Spherion's approach has always been to work as a partner with us, customizing their solutions to meet our goals."

Nominations for the awards were judged by Peter-Bendor Samuel, CEO of the Outsourcing Center and Everest Group; Michael F. Corbett, president of Michael F. Corbett and Associates; Barry Wiegler, founder and managing director of the Sourcing Interests Group, and Allie Young, chief analyst at Gartner Dataquest’s Worldwide IT Services organization. The Outsourcing Center received 80 nominations for 2000.
