Spherion® Professional Recruiting President Eric Archer to Address Association for Financial Professional’s Annual Conference in New Orleans
Will Discuss Critical Steps To Hire and Retain Valuable Financial Professionals

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – November 1, 2002 – Eric Archer, president of Spherion Professional Recruiting, a leading provider of recruitment services, will present an educational session on best practices in interviewing and hiring financial professionals at the 23rd annual Association for Financial Professionals (AFP) Conference on November 4, 2002 in New Orleans, LA.  Hosted by AFP, the conference takes place November 3-6 and features hundreds of exhibitors, thousands of attendees, and nearly 150 educational sessions and workshops on a wide range of financial topics.

Archer’s session, “Interviewing and Hiring the Right Financial Professional,” will be held on Monday, November 4 from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. In today’s “do more with less” environment, Archer shares the critical steps employers must take to hire and retain valuable candidates. He will explore the legal implications of hiring and discuss the best ways to assess, interview and evaluate the candidate pool.

In his address, Archer will provide proven methods to help employers:

  • Quickly and accurately identify viable candidates

  • Ask the right interview questions and clue in on non-verbal communication

  • Determine which candidates possess the characteristics to make a meaningful contribution to the company

  • Entice the ideal candidate to accept the position

  • Retain top performers

“Recruiting talent in a tight market is as much an art as it is a science,” Archer said. “The art is to balance an understanding of the job, company culture and traits for success in order to recognize a good match. The science is dedicating time and effort to thoroughly screen, interview and evaluate each and every addition to the finance team. Remembering that every employee has a level of influence within an organization, businesses must strive to always hire competent professionals without sacrificing integrity, intelligence or ingenuity along the way.”

Archer has more than 20 years of experience in recruitment in the finance and accounting arena. As president of Spherion Professional Recruiting, Archer is responsible for managing the operations, profitability and strategic directions of the business unit that provides a wide range of full-time and flexible employees in the following disciplines: finance and accounting, engineering and manufacturing, interim executives, legal, sales and marketing, human resources and information technology. He is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Personnel Consultant and a Certified Temporary Staffing Specialist.
