Walnut Creek, CA -- September 30, 2002 -- The Staffing Group of Spherion Corporation (formerly Interim Services), a leading provider of workforce solutions, today announced the appointment of Lauren Steel as group vice president of Northern California operations. She reports to Ralph Henderson, senior vice president of the western division.

She is primarily responsible for managing the overall operations for Spherion’s Northern California staffing business. In this role, she will oversee sales and operations for the region's eighteen business locations, including administrative and light industrial temporary staffing, direct hire and On-Premise SM operations. Spherion On-Premise is a proprietary on-site workforce management solution designed for high volume staffing needs.

Steel brings 18 years of industry experience, local market knowledge, sales leadership and a history of success in leading large, profitable organizations. Prior to joining Spherion, she worked with Wollborg/Michelson, a privately held staffing firm, in positions ranging from account representative to vice president of sales. In her most recent position, Steel was a senior vice president, responsible for managing the sales, operations and profitability of nine branches within the state of California .

Lauren received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Montclair State University in New Jersey .
